Well since my last post my husband of 37 years passed away. While he was in the hospital and in hospice care at his mother's he had me grab the valuables and bring them with us. While doing so I grabbed the coin that he was convinced was going to make him rich and an old Republic of Mexico coin he found while pulling up a stump in our yard. My mind was not on the care of these coins and I just shoved them together in an empty little change purse. When I removed them I noticed that my "special" nickel that had been in perfect condition had gotten scratched up by the other coin. I know that this will depreciate the value quite a bit but that's okay. I'm not as excited about it as I was when my husband was alive and wanting me to research the chance of having a valuable error coin in our possession. So I'm uploading some images. They are from a friend's phone camera and really aren't too great. Hopefully they are good enough to get an idea about it's value or an explanation as to what caused the unusual stamping on the nickel. I again want to apologize for the images and the scratches on my coin. Thanks to anyone who can help me find out information. [shr
To CCF! It's unfortunately a damaged coin. It's Post Strike Damage (it happened after it left the U.S. Mint). It's unfortunately worth 5 cents, since it's a damaged coin. I'm very sorry for your passing of your husband.
