Thank you for taking a moment to read this. I fully understand how this sounds, especially given the fakes I've read about while researching these. I have four of these Silver coins, in their red clam-shell boxes, which are in their original cardboard sleeves. I also inherited a number of Carson City Silver dollar hoard coins, which I have been selling on ebay. (My ebay username is the same as my username here, should you want to check my feedback.) Those Carson City coins were easy to verify, given the case and packaging I had, however, it sounds as if these 1967 dollar coins are much harder to sell. Might I be so bold as to ask how I should go about verifying these? Is there a verification service that is best for this particular coin? Thank you in advance for any thoughts or comments.

from my experience and what I have read here and online, NGC is the market's preference for world coins.

Nevol - thank you for the reply. Given that my uncle was stationed all around the world, and the fact that this particular box was packed with newspapers from the 70's, I felt very secure about their legitimacy, still it's nice to have a well researched article to compare them to.

Quote: from my experience and what I have read here and online, NGC is the market's preference for world coins. There was a time that was true, not so much anymore. It depends a lot on the country and some countries have a huge PCGS preference such as Australia and South Africa, but the gap that once existed really doesn't anymore and has moved in the other direction. NGC seems to be preferred for eastern Europe, and they get more lower value coins from the cheaper submission cost but there are plenty of countries that show a PCGS bias. Given this is the Australia section I would absolutely not send Australian coins to NGC. They get penalized to much

having the original boxes and sleeves helps tremendously, the fakes never came with boxes as far as I know.

It sounds promising! Whatever you do - do NOT throw out those boxes or any documentation! They add extra value. A real collector would be more than happy to pay extra for such packaging.

Much thanks and appreciation to everyone who replied! I've decided to list one of the coins with the cardboard sleeve and clamshell on ebay next week and let the cards fall where they may.
