I have a 1966 penny thats smaller and thinner than other 1966 penny. Anyone have any information on these differences

We would need a better picture. Also the weight would be helpful as well.

That indicates to me that the die was polished down to remove any defects on the die. Most of the time when they work on the outer devices, the die polishing can be uneven.

What do you mean. Thinner in size, or are the devices thinner?

Not really. I didn't even set the one I found aside. Just put it into a plastic tube with the proof cents for that year. But know what caused it, priceless. Sometimes the other devices get reduced:

The Wide AM was used from 1959-1992. The Close AM started in 1993. On the 1994 business strike cents they were Close AM and the Proof cents were Wide AM. There were some year to watch for the wrong CLose/Wide AM

Make sure to save the last image. (But I don't know if I will need it or not) Ask yourself: "Could I find this image again?" When in doubt, save it. Then later when you know you don't need it, then delete it. (But after a week you'll kick yourself for deleting it) Start an educational file for things interesting about coins. Saves searching for something you wished you had saved later.
