This 81 D quarter exhibits what appears to be doubling on Liberty,Date, extra thickness IGWT , reverse...doubling on all lettering.

Nope, not a Doubled Die Obverse. Your Quarter shows some Die Deterioration going on, caused by a worn die.

Looks like it has spent a lot of time in vending machines. Circulation flattening.
Wexler lists nothing for this year/mint.

Thanks guys. What distinguishes a doubleddie other than split serif, shape ,etc. I'm trying to learn and can someone point me to a simple example or article. I have identified a mountain of mint errors, and read the process of minting coins, but I'm missing something. Thank you all for a awesome web.site and all the help. C.c. is all that and a bag of coins
