Uncle gave me this coin, thought it might have belonged to his uncle. Doing some searching, seems to be a Qing Dynasty coin http://www.calgarycoin.com/referenc...a/china8.htm - see first entry). No idea if it is fake. The front looks a bit more greenish in person, but still quite new.

I am not an expert on this particular issue but I note the calligraphy is quite different between your coin and the Calgary coin, particularly the characters at left and right. A quick look at the examples on zeno.ru shows calligraphy in line with the Calgary example but different than yours. It's a very popular type, being early and inscribed entirely in Manchu. Suspicion is warranted.

I would guess fake, but there are many variations of legitimate coins.

What is the diameter and weight of the coin?
