This appears to be copper and is the size of a quarter with a smooth edge. Someone told me that back in the day newspaper salesman would use these in the paper machines if they had to open them to give someone a paper that lost their money or work on it for some reason. Story sounded plausible... but not sure.

Edge: Smooth
Weight: 6 grams
Diameter: 24.3 mm
Thickness: 1.6 mm
No raised rim

Slugs, back in the old days, when a quarter was substantial, were often produced for use as forgeries in coin operated machines, which had a hard time catching them.

I read a story about a man in 1931 in Missouri who pored lead slugs (dimes) in his garage, hit all the machines he could find, and then gave all of the food or other items to the homeless.

If you collect bulk tokens, you'll find plenty of them.
Rest in Peace

It is magnetic. I didn't think to check that because it looked like copper
