2006 Lincoln Penny. Material Error ?

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 08/07/2018 9:19 pm See the copper color on the edge? The coin was plated poorly with zinc. It is just a normal coin that was plated. Just a face value coin that was never worth anything more. Report this Post to the Staff
Spence Moderator United States 34430 Posts	Posted 08/07/2018 9:22 pm I think that it either could be plated as @coop says or else the copper plating was mostly stripped off this coin, leaving behind the zinc core. This is an academic question though as your coin is only worth face value. Errers and Varietys Bedrock of the Community United States 74892 Posts	Posted 08/07/2018 9:25 pm Looks like Zinc Rot corrosion setting in. The Copper plating broke, causing the Zinc core to get exposed. Worth face value unfortunately, as it's a damaged coin. Errers and Varietys. Report this Post to the Staff
