Hello...I found a peculiar looking 1974 Quarter in some pocket change..

It appears to be missing the "U" in quarter on the reverse side..

In my searches where others have had errors the case was their quarters were plated...This one isn't and weighs in at the regulated weight.

I tried supplying the best picture of the error aswell as proof the quarter hasn't been plated.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Looks like it was Struck Through Grease. You can see where it
is slightly going into the side of the letter "Q".

Hap, that is a good size glob of a geezer there! That comes from the maintenance of the dies, keep 'em cranking out 0coins. Just got missed when wiped off. Good example coin because can be eyeball seen.

Not lotto winner tho...

It is caused by a Grease Filled Die. Interesting find.

Your welcome.
Always nice to find an error instead of a damaged coin.
