Hi everyone. This is my first time posting and I hope my photos show up okay. I found this 1996 penny in a coin roll. The obverse has an upside-down letter A over the date. What kind of error would this be? Thanks
To CCF! This is unfortunately not an error coin. It's Post Strike Damage (it happened after it left the U.S. Mint). It's a Squeeze Job. Someone placed another cent on top of it, and smacked it very hard with a hammer, causing the letters to get transferred over. It's unfortunately worth face value, because it's only a damaged coin. It was altered. http://www.error-ref.com/squeeze-jo...-garage-job/
