I was pretty excited to pick up this Ducato recently as I have so little medieval gold. The obv inscription is ANTO VENEIRO SMVENETI DV while the rev inscription is SIT T XPE DAT QTV REGIS ISTE DVCAT. It dates to 1382 - 1400 AD and was authorized by Antonio Venier, the 62nd Doge. I have it attributed as Biaggi 2853. In a quick search of CCF, I see several other Ducatos posted here:

Thanks guys. I was eating Ramen for about a month to afford it, but I'm really happy with this coin. At some point I need to work on my picture taking skills. In order to show the coin's color correctly, I must darken the whole picutre significantly (the background is nearly white in reality).

Nice pickup!
I have been looking for a way to justify acquiring one of these for my "saints" collection, but as I already have an image of St. Mark on a Venetian grosso, and am saving up for a St. Matthew, I will just enjoy yours vicariously.

I find that gold is harder to photograph than silver. I wish I could offer advice, but I get pretty variable results, too.
