I hope everyone had a safe and Happy Fourth of July weekend ! It was an interesting week for sure around here...Funny how things change from one day to the next ! Last time I posted here I was bummed about the shop being closed after Thursday..and me getting only Wednesday night to work there. Lo and behold , I was asked to do a night job out of town ...for one night...anyway...it ends with me working Tuesday , Wednesday, and Thursday at the shop
Wednesday afternoon I caught the end of a conversation to a customer about a couple TV shows...turns out the father of Adrianne Palicki is a customer. She is the star of "Friday Night Lights" and has done appearances on "Supernatural" , "Smallville" and "Robot Chicken" .
The first member (more than 50 posts please) that can guess which of those four shows I have actually seen will be sent a 2002 Silver Proof Kennedy half
Contest is over- Amazon99 is the winner ! So..Adrianne is from Toledo, we also have another famous person that is from the area...But she married a crazy dude , so we keep that quiet
I thought it was interesting, but we are here for coins...so let's get back to it. When I came in Thursday the first thing I saw was the plastic container that the silver goes into before it goes into the counter/separator ...My first thought was..oh no ..look at all those whizzed coins. The shine was apparent from ten feet away, but when I got right up to them, I saw that they were all proofs ! There must have been 200 or so 10c, 25c, and 50c proofs in the melt bin. I immediately began to get some out and asked Nick what to do with them...but Greysheet lists the common dates of most of these right about melt unless they are high grade or cameo so..melt it is. These were dated from 57-64, so the 57-58 Franklins were not in there. I grabbed a few for myself before I went to work, and saved the rest for a couple customers that I knew would buy them. Here are a couple pics of some I grabbed for myself, there were a few real nice ones in there. Not really any cameo coins, a couple with obv or rev cam- but not both. The pics of the groups leave a little to be desired, but I wanted to limit the number of pics, so it is what it is

This Franklin was the only half I had time to get ( I did have work to do) It only has an obverse cameo, but it has jet black mirrors ...Mmmmmm...Mirrors....

Nice stuff for the melt bin ! As always these days I pick up some toned coins that I think are nice. I guess I justify my buying of multiple common date coins by making sure they are different

The first one is maybe not so common in this condition, but I thought (And I think Hadleydog will agree) this was a beautiful coin. The shiny matte -like luster and colors make for one exceptional looking
Washington quarter. I would grade it AU-55, I sure wish this one were MS !

A couple Franklins caught my eye...

Who needs another 64-D Kennedy ? I do ! When they look like this , I find it hard to pass up- and I usually don't

This one has a bonus minor
DDO kicker .

A bunch more Rosies in the melt bin this week too, they seem to tone nicely . Some of these have muted luster through the toning, but a couple have blazing luster and toning- you can see which ones they are I think in the pics. Again..just justifying my needs for those common dates here...

I see lots and lots of one ounce silver rounds, bars, and other shapes at the shop, some interesting and most just silver bars. I have seen these types of bars before , but when I saw this particular one- I knew I was going to buy it. Turns out it is an Ohio commemorative bar, so from my home state...Sealed the deal

Now that's blue....

once again I am going to tout the merits of getting change at your local B&M . I guess maybe I am spoiled, I don't know if others have this experience at their particular shop- speak up people

Once again I have to say ...Who needs another Bi-centennial quarter ? I Do ! When I saw this coin, I thought it was the nicest looking circulated-clad-bicentennial I had ever seen. Even at AU, it is probably the most unique anyway, the gold, red, blue toning is very appealing IMO. The New York quarter has a nice golden tone to it, and the Cent had a nice blazing orange-red glow to it. Nice stuff for pocket change !

I did have the pleasure of being invited to Clyde's (Shop Owner- does anyone not know that yet ?

) cabin for the Fourth of July festivities. I got to meet more of his family and friends- he has alot ! Food and beer a-plenty, a band , and fireworks- Clyde knows how to throw a party !
I am going to post an 1899-P Morgan in the grading forum, anyone up to a challenge ? I will post a link to it here as soon as I get it on there.
