I have attached photos of a broadstruck error Wheat cent. Does anybody know what the odd die crack looking thing on the right side of the reverse is? It is quite strange. It is attached to the coin on both ends but the middle can be slid around!

It's a Retained Cud, not fully formed along the crack yet. But it also looks like there was either a damaged collar or most likely debris caught in an unemployed collar or chamber to cause a dimple into the edge forcing metal up and down making a fun of sorts that was later smashed down in a compacted roll.

I agree with E&V . The anomaly on the reverse is a sheared section of what tiny bit of the rim was created by the collar. That's why it's connected on the ends but not in the center.
Don't mess with it as it is way cooler being connected !

Awesome! What do we think it is worth? I paid $2 for it at a small coin show.

Well you got more than your moneys worth on that one. Did you tell him, "Hum, this coin is damaged." LOL

Stoneman227 is correct. This is a metal shaving generated when the expanding reverse face grazed the top of a stiff, but still mobile collar. So, yes, it's a forced broadstrike.

Thanks everyone!

Does anyone know what it would be worth? I can't seem to find anything about a 'forced broadstruck' error on ebay.

You're very welcome and no problem! I think it would be worth more than a regular Broadstrike, than without a sheared piece of the collar.

Ok, I will list it on ebay with a starting bid of $39.99. Is that reasonable?
