There is usually a minor premium (maybe $2-$4) unless you have a desirable serial number. Desirable serial numbers include ones with very low numbers like 00001034 or a date that means something to someone like 10121954 or if it's the same forwards and backwards like 44377344.

Aren't star notes just replacement notes for ones that have been damaged and removed from circulation? Are they really worth a slight premium more than a "normal" note? I'm not a paper collector, so I really don't know.

Right now it isn't worth much because it is such a new series. But if it is crisp and in AU condition, it could be something to keep for the future.
