This stood out from a bank roll so much that I put it in a flip without really looking at it. When I got back to it and the threat of heart attack passed, I realized I still don't know enough to make a good call. What do you guys see here?

The die was in LDS die state when you coin was struck. Note the anomoly is on the devices between the device and towards the rim. It is called die wear. About 3/4 of the coin struck with the die is in the LDS/VLDS range. Only the earlier die states don't look like this. So it is not a nicer graded coin. Note how the 'L' is plastered to the rim? That is how a LDS coin looks because, the die is worn down that much. But the dies are going to strike about 750K more before the die is retired.
Rest in Peace

PIDT as well, very common on late 50's LWC's where they ran the dies into the ground!

Here, pick a problem:

That's severe Die Deterioration with Die Deterioration Doubling on the date. They ran the dies, until they were completely no good anymore in the 1950's. Here's severe Die Deterioration on a 1982 P LMC.
