Hi! I just recently started looking at coins so I don't know much yet but very interested in learning. Can anyone tell me if this penny would be worth anything? It's a large 1982 and weighs 3.1 grams. See the "o" of one cent?

@K77, first welcome to CCF. Second, I see a horizontal path of damage on the letter O of ONE. You can see where something sharp was pressed into the metal causing it to displace slightly up.

The O is damaged from circulation, and the over all surface looks odd. Also,it is a cent not a penny John1

Circulation damage. Either cent or penny is okay.

Other than that odd grainy surface texture, the O is damaged, taken a hit from another coin during bagging, hauling.

It's caused by PMD (post mint damage). Not a mint error.

If anything the Lincoln Cent may have taken a short acid dip

I agree with Mark. It has taken a short acid bath.

Certainly Post Mint Damage but don't ever be afraid to ask questions- that's how we learn!

to the forum. I agree with John1, it is a Lincoln Memorial cent ( LMC). If you want to learn you may as well learn right. A penny is a monetary unit of the United Kingdom that is equal to 1/100 pound. As CoinsforAmatures stated always ask, we all learn as we go. The penny thing is trivial but it is something you should get to know.
