Here's my 1908-D, no motto eagle. I purchased this raw as BU from a Stack's auction. The No Motto eagles usually have softer detail than the With Motto coins, especially on the obverse. Note the weakness in the letters of LIBERTY.
This coin has solid cartwheel luster and complete feather detail at the eagle's shoulder. It has quite a few scattered bagmarks. I figured it was a lock for MS-60 or maybe a point higher. I sent it to ICG and it came back as AU-58. It does have a long pinscratch in the reverse field; maybe that plus the bagmarks and soft obverse details resulted in a net grade.
