I don't see this one listed it's the second variety I've found ion the 2018s I figured I'd post it. In case you don't have your glasses on today and don't feel like getting up to get them, it's in the doorway I'll circle it.

First of all, very nice find and congratulations! And second, That's awesome that you've found an unlisted DDR! This makes me very excited and happy, since I've haven't seen one Doubled Die this year at all, even if it's a minor one! I haven't even seen anyone report a real Doubled Die etheir. You should send this to John Wexler, so he can list it for you. He'll be happy to list it.

Nice. Sorry for the late response e&v. I'm going to send in that one and another with a slightly smaller bar across the door. I'll put them in the mail tomorrow, and post results ASAP

I remain amazed that there are indeed folks who observe coins through high magnification to find such (to me) minor dots and dashes -

Congratulations to you for the find ... for me its an area of the hobby that is completely beyond my ability to understand the interest.

I could use some education on the inspection process - perhaps that would help me to understand why collectors are apparently committed to finding such minor issues.

So - open a bank roll of 2018-P Jefferson nickels. Do you truly put every part of the coin under a microscope in hopes of finding something new? That would take ages I think?

How is it done? How did you find that 'dash' on the reverse of this coin amongst the millions of similar 2018-P Jefferson out there.

Trust me - I'm all for any way to enjoy the hobby - I'm simply confused on the interest in such a minor detail and how you find them.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

Yep, that's a DDR. Not many people look at the newer nickels for doubled dies like this, so there's probably a lot of unlisted ones out there.

Varies from person to person. Some like making sets, some like being the first person to find one, some try to sell these on ebay for a profit.

and how you find them.

For these modern Jefferson nickel doubled dies they are actually incredibly easy to find. Nearly all of the nickel DDRs from 2006-present have doubling in that doorway or the window above it and most are very similar to this one. You really only have to look at that one spot on the coin to find these. There are other types of doubled dies that have doubling towards the rim, these more uncommon ones have distortion to the lettering, but these are usually pretty noticeable compared to a normal coin and the doubling is widespread so you only need a quick glance at just one of the letters to spot these.
