Hey all!

I have the opportunity to purchase this coin, but am not acquainted with it at all. I usually collect Peace and Morgan dollars. I don't know exactly what you look at for identifying faked coins. What do you think?

Thank you,
Cody

Update: images are from the seller.

Is this a half dollar, or a dollar? I'm guessing it's a half dollar but would be nice to know...

It APPEARS to be authentic but the obverse has something funky going on at the center? Looks to be VG to near Fine sharpness. Large 3 in the date.

Professional authentication by a TPG is always recommended for such an expensive coin. I don't see any huge "red flags" as to authenticity. That being said before buying this coin (quarter, half, or dollar) I would want to inspect it in person and/or only buy from a seller with an ironclad return policy (14 days good, 30 days better.)

Seems to be an 1803 O-103 HALF dollar.

I think something is off but I can't put my finger on it. If your seller is reputable then maybe but I personally would be very wary. That said I too am a Morgan dollar guy and not real knowledgeable on the draped bust coins.

Looks legit to me, but I would only buy it if it has an excellent return policy.

Looks like an indentation below Liberty's ear, that also shows up on reverse as a flattish spot on the eagle's breast.

Still, depending on price ...

What's up with the crescent moon reverse image? It does appear genuine with Fine details. The obverse rim damage hurts but it would likely straight grade at 12 assuming the hidden portion of the reverse is not hiding damage. I'd value it around $300 as-is.
