It may be because they were not intended for circulation. So maybe Junior swiped it from his parent's coin collection, spent it, and you received it next.

Last halves that were intruduced to circulation was the 2001's I do believe.

Since you got it in change, it would grade high AU condition.

You can get MS coins in circulation. It takes a bit for rub to start to appear

It's an endless debate, but personally I believe it's possible for an uncirculated coin to change hands for a few days and still be classified as such.

That's true actually. That has happened to me a couple of times, when I buy something at the store, and then receive a coin in MS condition, straight from the recently cracked open roll.
