Ferreted this out of a bin of "junk" coppers today. I imagine most would judge the design as being rather pedestrian, but I think owing to its simplicity it's actually aesthetically pleasing. About the diameter of a U.S. half dollar, but only 1.2 mm thick.

I like the look of it, as well as the toning. What did it cost you and what is it worth?

That's a great find. These often have some small (or large) rim dings that detract from their appearance. I've had a few nice Azores coppers, and guess it might fetch $30 or so on ebay if you're patient.

As part of a larger group, I suppose it worked out to my paying about $1 for it. As for what it's "worth" the "book" value in XF40 is $25, and in MS60 $75, but I'd think the number of collectors looking for one of these would be vanishingly small (perhaps even in Portugal) and thus the market very thin.

Not the most high value or sought-after coin but for a dollar that's a steal.

8 have sold in the last 90 days on ebay, but none above $20. So the market for a high grade example like yours is thin, but there is a market.
