Came across this nickel and would like to know why a lot of the letters are missing and also some numbers? All info is appreciated

That's called a " Struck Through Grease" error.
The cavities were filled with grease when the coin was struck.

It was Struck Through Grease. The crevices were filled with grease, causing a weak strike on struck coins. http://www.error-ref.com/struck-thr...-grease-oil/
