Grade and comments/remarks? Sorry for the slightly blurry image of the reverse, but most of the details are still apparent I think. Thanks.

This one looks more worn than your last one. VF?

The reverse does look weird though, so that makes me suspicious.

Wow, that's a beautiful 14D! The only negatives I see are the bust area hits and the reverse scratch. It's difficult to tell from the picture if the mintmark is authentic, these usually sit in a slight depression. The 14D dies were generally pretty worn, so one has to take that into account IMO. It's a solid EF-AU coin, closer to AU. I would send that coin off for grading, well worth it to confirm authenticity and grade.

I don't know, it just looks like the cheekbone and hair has a good bit of wear on it, but maybe I just don't know lincolns well enough. The reverse is easy, obverse is hard.

Through the teens and twenties, Denver was notorious for over-using their Lincoln dies. They also tended to have them too far apart (trying to save wear) which resulted in poor strikes. Most 1914D's you see will look pretty weak and lack detail, which can often be mistaken for wear.

Ah, that explains it. Yeah, if it's a really weak strike, I guess I could go higher than VF.

I've always found it hard to distinguish between wear and a weak strike myself. I'm not sure it's apparent from the pictures, but the lettering on the reverse does not have as much relief to it as some of the other stronger strike Lincolns I have (especially the 'AME' in AMERICA) so a weaker strike would make sense. I do plan on sending this off to PCGS for authentication and grading.
