I hope I'm not being too skeptical, but this doesn't look like the real deal to me.

There is nothing wrong with that listing and would not be removed by ebay if reported. Checking the counterfeit forum, this seller has never been reported for violating ebay Policy. There are dozens of sellers on ebay everyday selling rolls of cents that look like that. The only time they are in violation of ebay policy is if they use statements such as: "Roll might include XXXX" "You may receive a XXXX" "A buyer found in previous rolls a XXXX" There have been many rolls reported and removed by our counterfeit forum from sellers using the above wording in there listings. I see none of those in the listing you posted. Edit- Correct typo.

Looking deeper into this one, it's quite possible that some "feedback manipulation" has taken place here. There are several reasons why I say this, but most interesting is that while there are 12 negatives, they've been left by only 7 unique user ids. Additionally, one of the negatives has a follow-up stating the address given was "undelivable" according to the comments. Another 3 of the negatives are from one buyer who simply didn't receive the items. More than likely lost by the USPS. Or, the buyer could've lied. I got a negative one time from a buyer who lied about the product they got. They later tried to extort me. Another of the users is "no longer a registered user." Most interestingly, that user's id is similar to the one for the person who apparently tried to later "extort" the seller. My guess is that person got suspended, created a new account with a similar id, and tried to "go for the kill" so to speak with the newer account against the seller. Being a victim of "buyer extortion" myself, this has all the markings of a vindictive buyer and what I've seen them do on ebay. So, when you break it down, it's quite possible that only 4 of the negatives (left by 3 different buyers) are valid. They also have 14 neutrals, but 13 of them were left by one user, and they don't give much insight as to what went wrong. Apparently they had done business with them before, as every comment states "Last 2 orders have NOT been shipped in a timely manner." The lack of variety or explanation in this buyer's comments is a RED flag to me against that buyer. I look at the positive comments, and all of them are glowingly good. Honestly, I think this is a safe seller to do business with. You take out all of the suspect negatives and the 13 neutrals from the one buyer, and you end up with a combined 5 neutrals or negatives instead of 26. That would vault their feedback score from 99.1% all the way up to 99.7%.

I'm sorry guys. I was a little skeptical on these rolls. I'm just worried about some of the rolls on there. I hope I wasn't an idiot by any means posting this. I have gotten fake searched through "OBW" rolls in the past on ebay (old previous purchases), and that's why I'm a little bit skeptical.

I have seen older wrapped rolls in the '50s similar to that wrapping with the same kind of stamping if I recall. The only REDflag, and that is huge to me, is the "enders". I don't care how carefully stored a set of coins is, the enders will tone somewhat, even quite darkly. I have rolls from the early 1950s that were put into a well sealed tube in the late '60's or early 70's, that have some toning on the ends and unfortunately none in between carry the luster these show as enders on ALL his products. The second RED flag, a minor one, is the prices these are being bid at, seems quite a bit inflated from those I see in other on line auctions by at least 30-50%...I don't know how it compares to coin show venues since I don't go to those. David, it is ebay...you HAVE to be skeptical and check everything anymore!

No worries... when you're a victim (whether as a buyer or a seller), you definitely are much more wary of others on ebay. What you're feeling and how you're responding are normal. After my bad experiences, I added my own "terms and conditions" over and above ebay's protections to discourage the rogue buyers. And it's worked like a charm.

I was the first member too open this post by E&V . The reason why I didn't comment about it is because I wasn't so sure it was a scam . It's a known fact that OBW rolls starting from 1934 - 1939 pds exist , rare but they do exist . I feel the only thing that can be an issue with this roll is the fact that it's not a tight roll because of the age of the roll thus resulting in toned and spotted coins . My comments on this roll is only my opinions .

Thank you Crazyb0, John77, and T-BOP! Good comment and good point Crazyb0! That's why I look carefully on there. I'm glad I posted this though, since I'm learning a lot from this thread too.

Well, it's a good-looking aged wrapper! There are full return privileges, so what's the risk?

OK, so the guy has a bunch of similar rolls for sale, so that's an issue. And some negative/neutral feedback, another issue. But where on earth would you find a wrapper like that?
Is the problem that, if you open the roll to inspect it, then you lose the return option? I suppose?
I contacted him with this exact question just for the fun of it.
