Hey all. I keep all my 1982 quarters regardless of what's good or bad about them. What do you think of this one?

The mint mark looks like a T when zoomed in. I got pretty close with the microscope. And look at the rim on top of the LIBE of liberty along with the LL in dollar on the reverse.

I see what you mean. The mint mark took a hit, causing the metal to get flattened and pushed over. The reverse looks like it shows damage from a hit. The only thing I see that is an error, is a Finned Rim. http://www.error-ref.com/finning/

Got it. So anything that looks kind of like it's smudged together usually means it took a hit and was possibly flattened?

Yep, that's correct. Anything that has a smudged appearance to it is usually an indicator of damage, but sometimes errors can do stuff like that too.

@CO, when I blow up and enhance your pics, that sure does look like a letter T. However, I agree that the new shape is most likely due to a hit.

MM shape is caused by PMD.

Yep. The mint mark shape was caused by taking a well placed hit, causing the metal to get pushed over and flattened.
