I wanted to get some thoughts of this Denarius. I checked the fake reports and didn't find a match, but my eyes have deceived me before. I've bought from this seller and the coins have been 100% authentic. But he is not a dealer and knows little of ancients and I've spotted fakes in his lots before.

I'm always willing to take a chance at a good price. It's very hard to tell from the pics, I would say fake, very soft details and possible seam at 8:00?

Thanks Everyone

I know it's not helpful but the coin doesn't look right.
In particular I don't like the patina and the edges look to be too thick to be a struck coin.
The coin purports to be RIC 54/60/64.
The lettering looks too soft. I would be worried that it's a cast artificially patinated and holed to justify making it a "bargain."

Based on what you said the only way I would buy it is if it was offered by a knowledgeable seller who would guarantee the coin, and would take it back if it was proven otherwise.
The fact that it's being offered from a seller who doesn't know ancients and has sold fakes before would make me walk away.

I don't like the looks of it either. The surface appears to be pitted and the detail look soft. I might be genuine but has environmental damage.

I'm also worried about what looks like a seam along the edge. I'd pass on this one.

I agree with the comments above. I'd pass on it.

Thanks for the help. I had a hunch but I always like to hear what everyone has to say.

I'm getting better at spotting fakes thanks to you kind folks.
