I just bought a set of 'Silver Presidential Medals' from a gentleman in the area. He says he bought each for $39.95 over a long period of time. However, I can't seem to find information on these.

Do they look authentic? Any advice on what I should do to determine value?
I appreciate any tips.

They appear to be genuine US Mint bronze presidential medals that have been silver plated by a third party (not the Mint). The amount of silver they contain is negligible.

While I can imagine that their selling price was $39.95 each via subscription, their current value is likely $5.00 or so per medal.

Oh yes, the "one a month" special from outfits like National Collectors Mint...

They're a gimmick, looks pretty in the magazine, the unknowing get hooked and then don't quit receiving them. There's horror stories of husbands putting $50,000 of life savings into these things and the widow finding out they're only worth $5.000. Sadly it is allowed to go on.
