Old Dan I now have a confirmation on 2,400 Buffalo nickels and 7 proof singles. An waiting word on on 12,000 more that is needed for family, friends and trading. You probably think I am pulling your leg BUT I AM NOT!!! Guess you can now understand WHY I CAN"T BUY FROM THE MINT and why I think this will be the largest sought after coin in our life times? I am going to love every minute of this!!! My goal is to have a herd of 6,000 out to pasture, so to speak, for quite a few years and let time show if I was a foolish collector or a wise one!

The Mint had a small flop on their hands this morning in Washington DC. The local news was on hand passing out coins for free. (singles). The Mint store was selling bags and rolls at normal prices. About 100 people all said and done. The presentation was nice, but that was about it. I passed along some good info to the Mint staff, along with this website. Hopefully, the handwriting is on the wall.

Patiently I wait for the HERD to start arriving! Bought another single proof this evening! I suppose those would be considered breeding stock with the P's and D's being range animals? Don't we just love this hobby!

I tried to call first, that was a joke..then I went to the pcgs web site and they were talking about doing a search under "buffalo" I tried it and presto I oredered 4 sets in about 2 minutes.of course they are backordered until 3/15/05..I am just happy to get a few sets..

I did read that the national nickle exchange was a bust.. It was told that there 1 was armored car there and they only had the "p" rolls with them..no Denver so there was no way to get sets.I too wish there was a way to get a roll of proofs..Tjhe mint is going to release a set of the 6 Nickles for the 2nd 2 in the series.. in September, I will buy a few of those and try to resell some..
The rolls I am keeping..

My bags were shipped and should arrive by Friday. Shame I won't ever open them unless, of course, Old Dan can convince me too?

GROVEY, I would suggest you do what I have been doing for the last week and that is buying the single proofs on ebay. Right now they are fairly cheap compared to what they will be in a few months and there is NOT A DOUBT they will go up in value as the proofs will be somewhat harder to come by as most proof sets DO NOT get busted open. I am hoping to acquire at a least a roll of them but will place each and everyone in an airtite as soon as they arrive. My dealer says to buy all the proofs I can get on ALL 4 NICKELS but I am kind of partial to buffalos! Guess time will tell!

Hey Crystalk64,

outside the possibility of them going up in price they are downright pretty.

Well Catman I purchased my 14th individual proof today and I am really looking forward to admiring this herd for years to come. Now if I can just get my hands on some rolls I would be set to go as the proof sets have also been ordered and the bags are on the way! 2005 is really a BUFFALO year for me!!!

I'm curious. What is the going rate on the singles? You should get another shot in the arm since the regular proof sets have just been released.

I found an individual selling at $4.79 per single which is the best I have located. Many sellers want you to buy both 2005 nickels and my heart is in the buffalo. Probably will be sorry, down the road, for not purchasing the second nickel as it will probably be the one with the greatest value according to my luck with Murphy's Law! In any event my little guy will have buffalos to grow up with and hopefully his herd will be a good investment over time. If not he will know Daddy was a buffalo lover!

Darn, I can't believe the pony express delivered way out there in the wilderness before Indiana! What is the world coming to? Old Dan let me know if you need any help with those or, heaven forbid, storage space?
