Hey ND how many proof sets do you, as a dealer, open up each year? I know many dealers open up hundreds and hundreds to meet their customers demands for singles and I am DEFINITELY in the market for a roll of proof singles on the buffalos! Any suggestions or should I just be patient?

Easy there boy, sit back and take a deep breath. Now try and remember, you aren't going to be able to corner the market on Buffalo nickels, so settle down and wait it out. Now that wasn't so hard, now was it?

I don't buy or sell any modern coins. Too much work for a couple of dollars. However, I do know of a pretty good dealer who breaks open the sets to make rolls.

Their website leaves a lot to be desired, but if you can't find what you are looking for, get their catalog or call them direct. Most of their prices seem to be high bid, but less than retail.

Hey Old Dan, Bought my first two PROOF buffalo's this morning on a PRE-SALE. Don't really like to do that but I think prices will escalate very quickly and my desires, at this time, is to put this herd together very quickly!!! Just hope I don't have to buy more pasture land!!!

Not to worry, I've got a lot of pasture around here that would take care of as many of those Buffalo's as you'r going to rouondup. You are more than welcome to bring them back to their native land and put them out to graze.

Just wanted to let you know I finished placing a order of a bag of those Buffalo's so when they come, I can visit all my favorite cafe's and distribute as many as possible. Man, was that Mint web site busy...it took a little while to do the business.

Hey Old DAN, About 1:30 the Mint pulled the buffalo rolls and bags off of their main pages so you had to really dig around to locate them. I ordered my bags at about 1:15 and like to never got it done. A few minutes later everything was pulled from normal pages so my wife had to type in Bison to get them to come back up so she could order rolls. Guess what? Buffalo nickels are now BACK ORDERED!!! Apparently they sold all available stock in less than an hour and a half? I will keep your offer for the pasture land in mind as my herd is growing rapidly now! Will give you a total in a few weeks as this will probably be the single largest coin holding of my life!

2:50 PM EST and it seems that they are still available on the mint web site. While I don't doubt that this is going to be a pretty hot issue, I sincerely doubt that they sold out of their available stock in an hour and a half. Their web designers more than likely weren't prepared for the rush of orders.

Sold Out...? Maybe that's GOOD news this time. If congress looks they may get the impression to do something about keeping it.

We couldn't get them to come up on the Mints main page or the Rolls and bags site after 1:30? Did get them by typing in Bison Nickel and after placing a roll order they came up as back ordered as all available stock had sold out! Ann one else ordering this evening? Anxious to see what you all get!

The Mint updates the orders every 90 minutes. That is why the website will periodically state that an item is backordered. According to the distributor, the site takes approximately 15 minutes to update.

I doubt we'll see many of these in circulation. I don't see many of the keel boat and peace medal designs in circulation. This year will be no diffent.

It always takes a while for them to trickel into circulation. All the collectors and dealers grab the first ones out but then the demand drops and the rest get released through normal channels.
