To CCF! It's incused Machine Doubling. Since it's on incused devices, it's the complete opposite. Instead of being reduced in size, it's increased in size, as the die bounces and slides off, causing butter like striations. http://goccf.com/t/322998

You're very welcome! To add to this thread, incused Machine Doubling is very common on the ATB Quarters (About 70% of them have this).

Take another look at the word LIBERTY, top left corner of all the letters. That sure looks to me like split serifs and that word is NOT incuse. Unless there is something funky with the picture that is classic hub doubling.

The three marks in the last picture come from the edge of another coin dinging your (note how they line up with the reeding)

I've taken a few more pictures. If you have any tips on taking the best pics...lighting etc. I'd like to learn more :)

Conder101, I'm talking about the doubling on the incused devices, not Liberty. That picture was added, before you saw this thread. Before, there were only pictures of the incused devices.

LIBERTY= more Machine Doubling. The business strike coins only have the earlobe doubled one them.
