spru Bedrock of the Community United States 12477 Posts	Posted 09/05/2018 02:20 am They are proofs, not SMS. The first SMS nickel was the ultra-rare 1964. Then, 1965-1967 produced SMS nickels in the proof set's stead. Later, 1994 and 1997 also saw SMS coins minted in the original design included with specific sets. The '64 SMS is unobtanium for me (and most everyone), so I just lack the 1997. I will get it someday.
