So my brother-in-law asks me to buy him 4 Franklins to finish up his BU set.
I know that one collector really can't buy another persons coins for them and I was quite reluctant, but I could tell my wife really wanted me to do it, so I did it for her.

I picked these at better prices and looked at a couple hundred raw coins to find them. I'll post prices paid since I am not paying for them. The budget was $180, I spent $161.99.
I wouldn't mind owning them myself so I probably did OK.
What do you guys think?

1951 D $49. shipped

It sounds like you put a lot of effort into the search, and chose coins you would like yourself. So you did well. They look great.

I can agree that one collector choosing for another is a difficult position to be in.
Rest in Peace

Great choices, I especially like the 51-S. And staying under budget—how could he not be happy?

If he ain't happy... Time to get a new brother-in-law!

Then again, "if mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!"

Those can be too risky of dealings, wouldn't even try in my family! Some get testy if you treat them to MickeyD's when they wanted Taco Bell! When it comes to family, my gift horse's mouth is tightly zipped!

Sounds like I am getting the nod. Thanks guys, I only did it for my wife. I won't even get a "Thank you" outta him.
But doing for others should not have a reciprocal requirement. If he's not happy, I would just do a second set for myself and keep them. But I won't have to do this again. LOL

You did great. I'd never buy a coin or anything for someone else that requires their opinion. Not sure but why couldn't he buy them himself?

I deleted a negative post making a little fun of him to make myself feel superior. ( not a bad one )
I kinda put him down and exaggerated in jest.
That's not nice, so it's gone.

You did very well TNG! You also stayed in your budget range as well too, and didn't go over it.

The first three look really nice, no scratches. You're a nice brother-in-law.
