I have been getting conflicting answers to this question was wondering which is right...should the pillars on rev.of the Memorial 1c have vertical lines or no lines at all. Answers so far are about 50/50

The best thing to do is Google a new cent to see if your line are suppose to be there. You can also post a pic and the pros here can help you for sure.

These lines are called Stylobites. The will appear stronger on earlier die states and fade away as the die ages on the Memorial columns

Lincoln-Memorial-Pillars-On-Rev.

I chose first the 1964 SMS cents because they were a VEDS (Very-Early-Die-State) coins. (Less than 100 struck) But they obverse was the one that is the VEDS example. The reverse looked like a EMDS example. So I learned something new today there also.

particularly on the right side. you can also save or open my photo to your machine and blow it up if my pic is too small after optimize it....
