I'm not sure if fonts have changed much, but the G. Washington looks different than the J.Monroe dollar. The 8 looks thicker and the initials are also. Bottom of the J and the 2 horizontal lines of the F. Just wondering if this is some king of font change I can't find to read about. Any ideas?...... Just went back and looked again and I can see the 7 thicker and 1 also.. once again, any idea? DDO maybe?

The good news, is the pictures are now displaying properly. I can see pushed over and flattened metal on the 7. On "1817", that's Machine Doubling, because the devices are reduced in size, on the bottom.

Edited to correct my funny typo.

What do you think of the initials?

It depends more on the series for that President. Each one of these master hubs are created separately. So if they are all for the same President, then they are normal. If there are more than one different set of letters for the same president, then it could be a variety if the hubbed die show the difference. So what I'm saying is that if it is normal for the President and different for another one and they were all the same for the same president, then that would be a normal for that President. Maybe they needed to change the font to fit on different Presidents? Who know. But if they are normal, they would be common.

IT would be like us saying they used a different size of date on the 2001-2003, but in 2004 they changed it. (Which they did) Then that would be normal for those years. Making them common.

Understand that coop.Just looked thicker as in die doubling, on the James monroe. but wanted to figure out if it's just a font change or not. The initials are thick to the south. Made me think doubling.
