I found this 1968 D LMC that is definitely MD BUT, has some of the same attributes as the 1968 D LMC DDO-001 minus the die markers on the reverse. I thought I would post this just to read the comments! Enjoy and tell me what you think!

John1, I know that it is not, I just thought it would be educational for some people to see a really good example of MD and how it can sometimes mimic a DDO.

That's a good example of Machine Doubling. This will be a good thread for the starters to look at. The mint mark also has a Broken Die Post (Die Chip) as well.

Wexler has it correct, they aren't doubled dies:

Description: A very slight CW spread shows on the LIBE of LIBERTY. A spread towards the rim shows on IGWT.
Comments: Numerous working dies for all three Mints were created with this doubled working hub including S-Mint proof dies.

Because they were easy to find a few back, I started to question them because all the die doubling were all the same, but on different dies. But no, they insisted then they were doubled dies. Now we know. Now, how long with it take for others to realize this?

That is truly appreciated Mr. Coop. I have a 1968 S and D that are very good specimens of what you just posted about.
