Hi,
Please help me clarify if this is a genuine mint error or if your opinions would be that this is a human coin manipulation.

I am extremely new to coin collecting and would greatly appreciate any help. I have tried to search websites but am unable to find anythi my in regards to missing letters.
I came across this coin in general change....should I keep it?

My apologies for poor pic quality. I will definitely have to hit myself out with more suitable equipment, instead of my mobile phone.

Tia

Probably real - the T on the die probably filled with grease or something and so didn't strike up fully.
I don't see them often though they're probably not too uncommon.

Looks like a Grease Filled Die. (AKA Struck Through Grease)
Type in " Grease Filled Die" in the search forum at the top of
the sidebar to see more examples.
Considered a minor error but not worth much in that condition.

One thing you will find out is there are differing opinions on these errors. Particularly from people in other countries where mintages are often in the billions compared to Australia where they are in the millions. In Australia this type of error is collected by many true collectors and should be considered scarce. This does not mean they are worth a lot because even in Australia there are many people who disregard them. But to a true error collector they are interesting and cheap!!. Keep up the interest and enjoy collecting and don't focus too much on value.

It's a good example of a Struck Through Grease error. I would keep it. http://www.error-ref.com/struck-thr...-grease-oil/
