What is the best method for storing Silver Eagles?

1) Air tites with the little rings around them
2) Dansco Books
3) Snap fit square air tites?

Not heres another question, or a two part question.

If you put them in the air tites with the rings around them, where do you store them? Are there special books for them, or do you stack them away in a drawer?

If they are bullion coins from a dealer and they are for each year I put mine in a Dansco album.
Rest in Peace

I use the direct-fit airtites in an album, works very well for me and has room for the full set. Will hold 30 total;

They are made by air-tite I believe they run about $20.00 or there about.
That's with the pages and doesn't include the air-tite holders themselves.

Well if you find that pick me up one as well! The '95's were produced at Philly with the exception of the 1995 W which was a proof coin, not Unc like the ones that are burnished W's in '06, '07, and '08

For bullion SAE's, I just use some old military surplus canisters.

They are plastic with a threaded cap and o-ring for a seal.

They hold about 86 or 87 and are a perfect fit. They weigh about 6 lbs full, so they are pretty easy to handle.

I think I paid about $15 each for them a few years ago. I have filled several but have a couple more to go :)

I forgot to mention that for the nice coins I use airtites and they stack nicely in a green box right along side of the tubes.

I recently discovered the albums Coinaholic has.

I'm seriously considering them. You can get them for about $17, then there's the air-tites. I'm thinking more for "regular" collections. If you have coins up to half-dollar size, the album will hold 54 coins.

54 coins doesn't sound like much, but that covers quite a few sets including:
Franklin
Sacs + SBA in same album (including proofs)
Ikes - Gotta drop one or two out as the silver dollar one only holds 30 coins....
Walker short set ('41- '47)
Peace dollars
A Year Set of Morgans
Libert Standing quarters
The Silver Roosies ('46 - '64 with room for proofs '58 - '64)

This all at the same cost of a dansco with ultra-superior protection.
Rest in Peace

As an added bonus the albums being the same size dimensionally you can mix and match the pages, order them the way you want them,(except Statehood Quarter album) I have my mint mark set of Morgans(5) Peace dollar set(5)Ike set(10) Susie B's (18) filling one album, and a year set of Kennedys in another with room for future issues The fourth one contains commemorative halves, westward journey nickels, Buffalo coins, steel cents, Indian cents, Mercury dimes... well you get the point.

I use a combination of albums. Dansco for my BU Silver Eagles and the Air-Tite album (like Coinaholic) for my proofs. I also have the "W" Eagles in the Air-Tite. Works like a champ!

I use air-tites but there are pages you can buy to put them in a 3 ring binder that I use, if I remember right each page holds 16 or 20 coins. I really need to find my camera so I can start posting pictures of what I am talking about.

So, does everyone just discard their U.S. Mint boxes and leaflets. I only collect the proofs.

Nope, I keep them. I have a nice collection of now empty mint packaging and materials!

I don't think I have ever purchased a SAE that had either one :)
