Also known as (aka): poor quality contractor supplied planchets and too much pressure upon striking. Superb US Gubmint quality controls, doncha just love bureaucracy!

Are they worth keeping? Does anyone collect these?

As far as I know no one collects them, they are very common. Also the splitting of the plating has exposed the zinc making them susceptible to zinc rot if they aren't stored carefully.
