I was selling this on E Bay but I noticed some irregularities. With the void, and the doubling, Can I call this an error coin? Should I hang on to it? Also, is this a metal flow problem on the obverse and is it just Machine Doubling on the reverse. I took the coin out of the plastic older for the pictures.

Had to put my thinking cap on for this one! The lettering is slight MD, not an error. That section in the design is most likely a struck through debris, that has come off. It could have been a dollop of grease or a metal piece, but it made the metal form around it. This is only a minor striking error and wouldn't increase it's value. It may detract, be careful.

That's what I thought too, thanks for the input. I'm not an error collector and I'll take all the advice I can get. I'll just list the coin as having a possible struck through void and see what it does. It's still a great looking coin and it is .999 Ag.

Not .999 fine, .900 fine. Same 90% silver composition as all the silver dollars since 1837.

Oh, by the way, I have a Proof coin of the same design and what I thought was a "stuck through" appears to be part of the coin's design. The proof coin has the same space, in the same area, but the space has a mirror-like finish. Go figure...
