discuss your personal thoughts on where our hobby will be over the next 10 yrs and what you think will affect it in the future either up or down. Are there particular areas that may fair better than others?

Remember the Bicentennial? It was a big deal for stamps and coins being redesigned with Rev War images. I hope people will be as interested in the 250th 4th of July in 2026. Expect renewed interest in colonial and states issues with price peaks in 2025, a year before the celebration. Then again remember poor Christopher Columbus who had a smashing 400th but was a social pariah at his 500th anniversary. Will George Washington remain a founding father or be shunned as just another slave owner? Only the next ten years will tell us if it is still popular to celebrate American heritage, or just let it slip away as something once popular back in the 20th century but lost to today's generation. I hope we still feel like a party for our freedoms.

Personally I hope that 1) This silly bubble of novelty numismatic "coins" aimed at the same demographic who collects ceramic figurines bursts, and 2) I'd love to see some interest in less mainstream areas of collecting. World, medieval, and ancient coins don't get the love they deserve!

Our coin club has discussed this matter. We noted that Lack of young people involved in our hobby could lead to its demise. We are planning meetings with scouts(both boy and girl)to introduce them. We hope to appeal to them from historical(most not aware of 1/2, 2, 3, 20 cent pieces), precious metal as well as joy of collecting - something they can do their entire life.
Rest in Peace

I think it will fair well in the future because we all see how many new collectors are posting their introductions every day . But we have to keep all counterfeiters out as well as scammers & deceivers . If they multiply like roaches they will bring the hobby down drastically .
On the bright side Silver needs a shot of B-12 to wake up and stimulate all of us .
