Two quick questions. Have you weighed this coin? Do you have the specific gravity of this coin?
EDIT: The weight should be 2.5 g +/- 0.10 g and specific gravity should be 7.2 g/ml.

This is vaguely similar to the extended Ray Washington dollar, also a WUFO listing. No definitive explanation for that one, either. Most people think a mischevious die repair.
I seem to remember finding a '95 D with this type of mintmark last year. Not sure if I kept it ...

Now the challenge is to find a second one because that will be the only way to determine if this is unique to this coin or if it is reallly a die variety.
