Idk, I have my doubts about this one. 192664745979The strike just doesn't seem good enough. The denticles are terrible, and the rim isn't squared like I'd look for. While it shouldn't have that much luster for an XF, that's such a rookie trap that I can't believe PCGS would fall for that. What are they seeing? Did they drop the ball on this one? Counterfeit holder, maybe? Or is it legit? Tell me your thoughts.

Labeling mistake? Incompetence?
Even the guy selling the coin thinks it's not a proof!

I don't know. There are some ebay items graded as MS where the Seller (not this one) insists they are proofs and wants moon money, so this is quite a change with the Seller doubting it is a proof. It previously sold on ebay in March for under $100, so who knows?

I really have my doubts about that one. If it is indeed one of 12 struck, it would be a very expensive coin, even in this condition. I have no idea if this is fake somehow, but the cert. # checks out. It's nice to see that the seller clearly states their doubts about it actually being a proof, though.

Raw at the time, jimbucks? That seems low for this cent even as a business strike.

Okay, then it definitely must not be a proof

Quote: I'm starting to think it is a PCGS labeling error. It is not unthinkable. I have a labeling error in my collection. Not nearly as significant as this one, but an error none the less. Kudos to the seller for being very upfront and honest about his thoughts to.

It appears to be a labeling error. Usually if it was a proof they would have not said "XF Detail", instead "PR Detail."

There are plenty of PCGS slabbed coins available with the exact same labeling as this here coin. I am not saying that this is a proof, I agree it is likely a mistake.

Okay, I was wrong. I am no TPG expert. But I strongly believe this was a mistake - sure doesn't have the diagnostics of a proof, IMO.

Ended up selling for $1125 after being at just over $200 2 minutes before auction ended. My guess is that the seller had it checked out since last sold earlier this year and concluded it was not a proof (and disclosed that opinion), and buyer probably didn't research this coin or took a chance.
