Well I have found me a very nice 1859 that I have been searching and working on to locating the exact variety and I believe I have done so, however, there are a few more markers then what is listed on vickycents.com The reverse has a die crack on leaf #2 that is not listed, Loop 6 is almost incomplete and the repunching on the date is stronger on each number. On the obverse there looks to be die clashes between the top of the head and the bead ring, the major die crack in the G or GRATIA creates a spikehead and lastly the die crack on the I on DEI that connects to the G in GRATIA actually starts on the D in DEI...

This was the closest I could find with all the markers....but it looks like I may have an even later stage die failure going on here?! Any insight would be great!! Thank you!!

Hi, If you look at the coin at the bottom of each listing(rev&obv) you will see these die cracks which are at a later stage 3 or 4 and re the fine die crack at leaf 2(vine leaf 2) it is showing but yes, not listed.
Any 1859 coin is a great find.
Cheers Don

That's a nice example of the 77a3! You've got a good eye also noticing that fine crack at leaf 2. Good job!

I think Don is right about the coin shown at the bottom of the reverse P15c page being later than yours and also has the die crack at leaf 2.

As other examples of this die come to light, there will probably be some intermediate die states added to the catalog.

None of the 77a reverses are common, so it may take awhile to find enough examples to fill in more complete die state charts. Thanks for posting the photos which show the die cracks very well.

Does anyone else have any P15c reverses in other states?

Don and Phil, I thank you both very much!! I am a newbie at the Victoria's and have become absolutely enthralled with them. So I am pretty pumped that I was able to find the correct listing on my own! *happy dance* On the obverse, is that a die clash between the head and the bead ring? It sure looks like it to me, but I am not 100% about it.

Yes, that is a die clash.

Here is a photo of the obverse of a 77a4 coin that I have showing the same die clash.
