 Got this because there is something about reds from the thirties (gosh, that sounds political) that I find attractive. The reverse is a bit carbon-spotty, but I think I'll keep it. |

I realize this is no great shakes to anyone else here, but it is my 234th coin in my 1946 birth year collection. It should be a common coin but this is the first in 4 years I've encountered in any decent shape. And, I wasn't expecting to get it. It was a Delcampe purchase from Portugal from April 2016. It didn't arrive after a month. I think the cost was $1 or less and the vendor wanted $4 to send registered, or 1E or so ordinary mail. I settled for ordianary mail. Today it showed up with no postal explanation for the delay on the envelope.    |

Very nice!  I mentioned these in the Ike thread last week and I got them in the mail over the weekend. In case you missed it, brace yourselves. These are my first two slab purchases and they will not be cracked (at least not anytime soon). I have a complete Eisenhower dollar set in a Dansco. I do not want to upgrade anything, but I have always wanted to build a higher-end set to compliment it, either in slabs or for a Capital Plastics holder. That project was always a few years away, but an opportunity presented itself and I took the plunge...  |

I can be such a magpie when it comes to coins. Sparkly things, you know. I received this yesterday, described as GEM BU, a bit of an overstatement due to the weakness of the strike and the spotting on the reverse. But, at $2.50 over melt, it works just fine for me.   |

Congrats, jbuck. I know how much those Ike dollars mean to you, and I think it's great that you got a couple of slabbed specimens to go with the rest of your collection. |

Thank you. Yes, it is nice.  There is a coin show next month. My goal, as always, is to fill some holes in my remaining unfinished Dansco albums. However, I will be looking a bit closer at the slabbed Ikes. Who knows, I may come home with a few more!  |
