This will likely be a real yawner for most of you. It should be a common coin, Chile 50 escudos, 1974. (a 2-year coin, 1975 also.)5.7 million reported issued by Numista. I've had my eye out for this coin for the past 9 months. One sold on ebay about a year ago. None to my knowledge since. I did buy an AU example off Delcampe from a South American vendor 5 months ago for around $6 including shipping. Been looking for an UNC example all the time. I found this one of all places on Amazon. Much, much more than the 60 cents NGC online shows for a MS60 example. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?

999fine - It's the key date for the series. Krause books it at $70+, although those prices are inflated.

coin kid: thank you very much. That explains the infrequency of its appearance. I sure do appreciate the information.

Went to a local auction yesterday and got 2 additions to my collection. First one is a 1622 Pfennig from Frankfurt/Oder (Brandenburg), also called Kipperpfennig. The second one is a 1872 C 10 Mark coin from Prussia.

I got this one from ebay a few weeks ago. Even though this coin isn't worth very much, I couldn't find one anywhere near where I lived. I am happy with it though...

CC2012 - that's what makes this hobby so enjoyable. The simple act of adding a coin that you like for its design or any other whim and the joy it brings.
