I truly admire collectors of this genre. There is so much history involved, and history that most of us Americans know next-to-nothing about.

I posted this under World Coins, but am happy to share it here. It just came in the mail today. I really like the reverse with the lion.

It's a 1925 East Africa Shilling struck in .250 silver (KM #21).

It's a lovely-designed coin for sure.

edit: Do you collect the country or was it a "magpie" buy?

I don't collect East Africa, but I've liked this design for a long time and have had my eyes open for a high grade example.

"Magpie". I like that.

At a coin show I went to recently, I picked up twenty-three new coins for my Netherlands cent date set, all out of a couple junk bins. I was quite surprised to find one dated 1931, which one of the harder dates to find. I paid fifty cents for it. Hopefully I will be able to find a 1924 next time.

My apologies for the not-so-good pictures; they do not do the coin justice at all.

Dollarman - lovely gold. The Prussia is 20 marks, not 10.

Coin kid - can't tell for sure, image is a bit soft, but I would say high-XF at least. From its appearance I think a $25 coin. They aren't scarce, but not common either. The key is the lack of corrosion, they can get rather gamy. I cant tell if that light spot is corrosion or what.
