1977-S Eisenhower dollar Proof

Acquired this at last week's MSNS Convention for my Civil War token exhibit.

Thanks jbuck. Took me about 10 years to acquire enough of the varieties and another couple of years doing the biographical research for the write-up.

For my type collection of Mexico I have for the most part avoided the Mexico new peso issues, they are as bad if not worse than Canada and the US for their milk barn emissions. But sometimes an opportunity presents itself...

An enjoyable eclectic selection

Have not scratched one in 20+ years. They are stored in binders so there is no contact and if I need to take one out of a 2X2 I use pliers to remove every staple first. Using the flat clinch stapler also helps.

I usually up-size my holders, for example, dimes in cent holder, cents in nickel holders, etc. This gives some space around the coin where I can poke through the Mylar to get the coin out.

While my needing to remove a coin from one of my holders is rare, there are holders from coin dealers where I need to free coins to put into a Dansco album. My preferred method is using a pair of scissors to cut one side of the holder and release the coin. This works best when they only use three staples, but also well when they leave enough room between staple and coin.

I have had some where the staple was very close to the coin. Those times have been scary, for sure. I have even passed on a purchase seeing how close the staples are to the coin.
