tdziemia Pillar of the Community United States 7999 Posts	Posted 02/22/2018 4:53 pm Somehow I got interested in images of Christian saints on coins (mostly European medieval and renaissance), and we all know what happens then! Here is my most recent acquisition, a groschen from Braunschweig with an image of St. Anne (held in Christian tradition to be the mother of Mary). She holds Mary in her right arm and Jesus in her left (sure wish a bite hadn't been taken out of that coin, but it didn't affect the image). It occurs to me that this particular rendition of a halo looks a bit like Lady Liberty's crown on our Statue of Liberty Attached for comparison is a contemporary rendition in art by Albrecht Durer from 1519 (who was painting in Nuremberg).
