Of several recent pickups, this one was a bargain $29.00  ... An 1836 large cent in great shape, at least XF-45 to AU-53ish depending on how one looks at it...   Edited by mrwhatisit

Here in my home state of Michigan, from an antique shop where I frequently visit, there is a coin dealer who has incredible pricing on many of his coins; why I keep buying from him. Sometime last year, I posted an 1851 large cent in AU-58 here also bought from him.

A nice present from Germany arrived today courtesy of Redlock.   Climate coin 2020A Sub polare zone These are Berlin Mint coins.   Climate coin 2021A Polar Zone. Thanks to him, I have 19 of the 25 possible coins that were issued! He also sent me a beautiful Canadian pride dollar!   Thank you Redlock! |

Just learned something here, I always thought "Bernadotte", did not sound very Swedish. I need to learn a bit more about their rulers beyond the famous ones like Charles XII, Gustavus Vasa and Christina.
Sounds like they really tried to love the people as the same inscriptions appeared on coins meant for Norway in their colonial era. I know a lot about the Danish Royal Family, but the Swedish I know little (And yes Erafjel I know about the horrible attack on Stockholm in 1520 by Christian II of Denmark).
