Hi everyone! So I went out metal detecting last night and came across this 1936 Canadian penny. I posted a picture of it to the metal detecting page on Facebook and they advised me to get it checked as apparently they believe it's one of the elusive dot versions. I do see what looks like a dot where it's supposed to be but don't want to get my hopes up as from what I have been told there are supposed to be only 5 known to exist here is a photo if you all could tell me what you think! Thanks in advance!

To the CCF.
Not a 36 dot. Looks like a small die chip.
Keep searching though, many of our other members
have found some nice coins metal detecting.
There is even a metal detecting forum on this site
you may be interested in looking at.

Thanks Jimmy! I really doubted it was one to begin with as the chanc3s of getting struck by lightning or winning the lottery multiple times would be better than finding that coin lol I appreciate the help :)

Optical illusion with the surface corrosion... not the real deal (the only survivors are all specimen strikes).

Oh yeah, and to CCF!!

With the recent donation of a specimen 36 set to the Currency Museum from a former mint master, kind of confirms the lasting rumours that the dot penny was custom made for a select collector
