Don't ever get that re-certified by PCGS! How'd it get a PL with those scratches, the devices ain't that frosted and line detract from appearance.

Actually, Mercury dime proof are not cameo proofs, so the devices won't have as much of a frosty look to them. Maybe a bit overgraded, but hard to tell with the pics (can't tell what's die polish and which are scratches)

I've only been collecting coins for 2 days. This TV coin guy, I think his name is Ricky Tobasco, says if you use baking soda on coins it gets them nice and shiny. I will try that.

It would be swell if folks who aren't familiar with die polishing lines would refrain from commenting on them.
In most instances, this is a very knowledgeable community with great advice. But I think problems occur when CCF members deviate from their areas of expertise and make their opinions sound as absolutes. Unfortunately, because of this, you can get some really bad advice on this forum.

The invisible "scratch bandit" attacked me too! (ANACS OWH, 1916, MS63FB, toned and semi-prooflike) They even swam across the Atlantic Ocean and struck in Britain! (1869 Victoria Maundy Groat/4 Pence, NGC MS65, prooflike) Quick! Hide all the baking soda...

The invisible "scratch bandit" attacked me too! The D on that 1916 was almost completely polished off, but I see it.

Isn't it possible that the Mint used pre scratched metal?
